This tour package is of Eco-cultural interest and is recommended for those who like activities related to: history, culture, tradition, kayaking, trekking and off-road.
This is an Off-road Expedition that combines natural beauties with a lot of history and culture. On the old times, when the state of Minas Gerais was the most important extract area in Brazil, all the gold and diamonds had to be transported to one of the ports on the coast. On the way where the expeditions used to stop to overnight and exchange supplies, villages started to grown with very particular baroque architecture, traditions and culture. The local people, Mineiros, is known for its welcoming and friendly way of life, making this trip a real immersion into the local values.
The local dishes are flavorful and surprise even the most refined taste. You will follow the old royal route from the historical and world famous colonialo town of Ouro Preto, the first Brazilian town to be declared as a World Heritage Site, to Diamantina town, another colonial town, which used to be a center for diamond mines. Another cozy and charming town in the Baroque Circuit is Tiradentes, the smallest among the three. Known for its cobblestone streets, churches, arts, nice restaurants and small familiar pousadas, this little town will certainly enchant you. You will also visit places of rare beauty and enjoy the unique landscape of the Rocky Fields, a type of vegetation characterized by rolling grasslands, geological outcrooppings and cerrado flora. You will go through the high areas of the Espinhaço Mountain Range, visiting the Cipó Mountain Range and reaching altitudes of 4600 feet (1400 meters), where you will enjoy water springs and many crystal clean waterfalls.
1 Day - Belo Horizonte / Tiradentes

Arrive in Belo Horizonte and follow to Tiradentes (3 hours driving), a beautiful historical city in Minas Gerais state, also known for its lively arts. In the afternoon, you will walk through the historical center and visit the most important sites such as the baroque churches.

2 Day - Tiradentes & São João Del Rei

A short trekking in the morning and a possibility of getting back to Tiradentes by an ancient historic train.

3 Day - Tiradentes / Ouro Preto

After breakfast you will leave towards Ouro Preto (3 hours driving), the incredibly beautiful town of cobblestone streets winding up and down hills all crowned by churches and chapels. On the way, you will start learning about characteristics of this area. Upon arrival, you will have a guided tour in Ouro Preto to explore its history, culture and beauty. In the afternoon you will visit the Inconfidência Museum and the main churches of the city.

4 Day - Ouro Preto / Mariana

This morning you will continue your visit to Ouro Preto and have the chance to do some local shopping. In the afternoon you will head to the village of Mariana to explore an old flooded gold mine. You will descend with strollers to the old dark entrance of the mine. Return to Ouro Preto by the end of the afternoon.

5 Day - Ouro Preto/Cipó Mountain Range

Early in the morning you will continue the expedition to Serra do Cipó National Park. You will drive 2 hours and a half to get there. There you will have the opportunity to see the capivaras (world's biggest rodents) in large groups on the sides of the Cipo River. You will also see many birds and a very preserved flora.

6 Day - Cipo Mountain Range

You will start the day with a tour around Serra do Cipo National Park visiting the Cipó Farm, where the first explorers start the occupation of this area. You will also go to the National Park visitor center and learn more about this area. Continuing to the high section of the park, where you will be able to see the rocky fields and a special sub system of the Cerrado environmental, one of the richest flora of the world. You will have a chance to swim in the Cornélio waterfall, a 30-meter (90 feet) waterfall with a huge pool, perfect for a refreshing dive.

7 Day - Cipó Mountain Range/Diamantina

You will leave to Diamantina town following the beautiful road on the mountains. On the way, you will stop and enjoy the scenery and the waterfalls. The hospitality and the simplicity of the local people will amaze you. You will reach Diamantina by the end of the afternoon.

8 Day - Diamantina

Today you will have a full day to explore Diamantina. Our geologist guide explains you all the aspects of the diamond cycle and history. You will also meet artists who work with original materials to produce rugs, ceramics and other crafts.

9 Day - Diamantina / Belo Horizonte

You will have a free morning for walking around town and shopping. Return to Belo Horizonte in the afternoon (4 hours driving).
The package includes:
