Dourado Fishing Championship

Fishing is carried out on the majestic Paraná river, the seventh largest river in the world in terms of flow, more than 50 meters deep, located on the borders of Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay. That’s where we find the famous “dourado” (Salminus maxillosus), the prefered fish of sport fishermen, as the “surubim” (Pseudoplatystoma fasciatum fasciatum) and the “pintado” (Pseudoplatystoma corruscans) that reach up to 60 kg. Other smaller fishes are “piapara” (Leporinus obtusidens) and “bagre” (Pimelodus clarias maculatus).

Fishing is done with the boat in motion. On the Itaipu lake is still possible to fish “tucunaré”, a characteristic fish from the Amazon basin.
Oficial fishing season: from late February to late September.
