Day -
City of origin – Petrolina
Arrival at Petrolina (Pernambuco state), a city situated on the banks of the majestic São Francisco River.
The flight leaves Recife at 00h30 in the early morning, and arrives in Petrolina around 1h45. There will be a transfer to a hotel in the town where you check-in to spend the rest of the night.

Day -
Petrolina - Serra da Capivara
After breakfast, at 9h00, transfer to São Raimundo Nonato, a small town near the Serra da Capivara National Park. This National Park has over 700 archeological sites, with an outstanding collection of paintings and petroglyphs made by prehistoric peoples who inhabited the region over 50,000 years ago. UNESCO has proclaimed the Park part of the "Cultural Heritage of Humanity", due to the age of its archeological sites and the aesthetic quality of the rock art.
You will check into and lunch at a lodge in the town.
After lunch, you will leave to visit the "Baixão do Perna", where there is interesting rock art to be seen.
On the return trip to São Raimundo, there will be a stop at the Baixão dos Andorinhas. At Twilight, the swallows put on a veritable aerobatics show when they return to nest for the night - in a narrow canyon.
The day ends with your return to the lodge for dinner and to overnight.

Day -
Serra da Capivara
After breakfast departure to Serra da Capivara National Park. The first stop will be at a lookout point, from where there is a panoramic view of the Serra da Capivara. ,br>Following this, you will visit the Capivara Gorge with its numerous archaeological sties, richly endowed with rock art.
A picnic lunch will be served in one of the Park's rest areas (or, alternatively, you will have lunch in a simple restaurant that has excellent home cooking).
After lunch, you will walk to the Boqueirão do Paraguaio, visiting some of the rock shelters that have intriguing prehistoric paintings.
After this, you return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day -
Serra da Capivara
After breakfast, you will depart to the National Park where you will walk to see new archaeological sites and some outstandingly beautiful places.
A snack lunch will be served at the Park's Visitors Center.
After lunch, you will follow part of the Hombu Trail - where you will visit the Toca da Invenção, Toca da Roça and Toca da Ema - the latter being a huge shelter that contains thousands of rock paintings.
You will continue on your walk to Sitio do Meio and Baixão da Pedra Furada, where important archaeological discoveries were made.
Around 18h00, you will visit Boqueirão da Pedra Furada, which is considered the oldest archaeological site in the Americas. At this time of the day, the features of this immense, natural anphitheater are highlighted in beautiful artificial lighting.
Following this, you will return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day -
Serra da Capivara - Petrolina
After breakfast you will visit the Museu do Homem Americano. The result of 30 years of research in paleontology, archaeology and other natural and social sciences are exhibited in this well-structured museum.
Lunch will be served at the lodge after which you depart to Petrolina.
On the way, you will visit the Sobradinho Dam, which holds back the largest man-made body of water in the world.
You will check-in at the hotel in the town to overnight. Dinner is on your own account.

Day -
Petrolina
Transfer to the airport with early morning check-in scheduled for 5h00.

Important Remarks:
1. Please note that English speaking guides are very rare there and eventhough they might not speak well.
2. From 1 to 4 persons services will be rendered in a Land Rover, for 5 or 6 persons it will be in a van.
3. Hiking and trails at Serra da Capivara National Park can vary from the proposed itinerary, according to the road conditions and characteristics of the excursion group - walking capability, etc.
4. Rates are per person and valid until December 2007
