The Pantanal, the largest contiguous wetland on the planet, declared a World Heritage Site and Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, is South America’s primary wildlife sanctuary. With a total area of approximately 150,000km2 and located in the center of the continent, the Pantanal is a biogeography mixing bowl containing elements of the Amazon Forest, the Caatinga, the Brazilian Savannah, the Atlantic Rainforest and the Paraguayan Chaco.
This fantastic biodiversity includes: 698 birds species, 80 mammals, 260 fish species and 50 reptiles. Located amidst this unique and rare biological diversity is the ARARAS ECO LODGE (16º 30’ 42.3” South latitude; 56º 42’ 39.4” West longitude). Built in harmony with the environment, without renouncing comfort, the lodge is reachable all year-round by car via the Transpantaneira Park Road, 132 km (82 mi) south of Cuiabá (the capital of the State of Mato Grosso). From this lodge, with its enviably preserved surroundings, it is possible to do first-class bird-watching, trekking in pristine forest, canoeing, horseback riding, truck photo-safaris, night tours and much more, all under the assistance of expert bilingual naturalist guides.

Day -
Cuiabá / Pantanal
Arrival at Cuiabá/Várzea Grande airport or pick up at hotel and transfer to Pantanal lowlands.
While crossing the area, it is possible to spot and appreciate the local flora & fauna.
Check-in and accommodation at Araras Eco Lodge.
Late afternoon hike through surrounding area to a 12 m observation tower and a spectacular view of sunset.
Dinner.
Night tour to observe nocturnal environment.
Overnight at the lodge.

2
Day -
Pantanal
Breakfast.
Full day dedicated to observing the Pantanal’s flora & fauna at the Araras Eco Lodge private reserve. After breakfast, the guide will lead you on a 2 to 3 hour horseback ride through the pastures, woods and wetlands.
Lunch.
In the afternoon, the guide will lead you on a hike in a different area of the private reserve, allowing you to observe and learn more of the local environment.
Dinner.
Overnight at the lodge.

Day -
Pantanal
Breakfast.
After breakfast travel down private dirt roads, to Sentinela Camp on the edge of the Rio Clarinho. Canoe tour to spot aquatic wildlife, birds and flora; possibility of piranha fishing.
Brazilian churrasco style picnic lunch along the banks of the river.
Return to the lodge.
Dinner.
Overnight at the lodge.

Day -
Pantanal
Early morning hike for sunrise. Breakfast. After breakfast hike or bike ride to visit to the neighbor farm.
Time to share a “guaraná “ drink following local tradition, lunch at the lodge. Afternoon photo safari south on the Transpantaneira Park road. Dinner at Lodge.
Enjoy a night tour on our photo safari truck, with spotlight to search for nocturnal wild life

Day -
Pantanal / Cuiabá
Morning free for personal enjoyment at lodge surroundings, before your photo safari transfer to Cuiabá. Drop off at airport or city hotel.

Important remarks:
1. The below mentioned rates are per person, based on double room occupancy, are valid until June 2008
2. This package is not valid during Christmas, New Years, Carnival and Holidays periods.
3. The activities described may be altered due to weather conditions, season or group make-up with the intent of maximizing your experience of the eco-system.
