Pousada do Rio Mutum

Proposal

The Pousada do Rio Mutum is located between the lakes Sia Mariana and Chacorore in the heart of one of the most beautiful regions of the Pantanal in the state of Mato Grosso.

The Pantanal of Mato Grosso represents an area of more than 100,000 square-kilometers of nearly untouched wilderness and natural life. During the rainy season (November through April) a significant part of this area is covered by water. As a result, within this vast green sea there remain only a few “islands” where you find isolated Fazendas and Pousadas.

The rising and falling waters determine all life in the Pantanal; one nevertheless discovers a great variety of landscapes, with different eco-systems and an enormous bio-diversity.

The Pousada is located within the county of Barão do Melgaço, a region comprising more than 11,000 square-kilometers, 97% of which remain flooded during the rainy season.

Barão de Melgaço is distinguished by an unusual variety of landscapes, consisting of hills, lakes, rivers and grassy plains. The Pousada do Rio Mutum lies, as its name indicates, at the basin of the river Mutum, shortly before ending in the great lakes. The biggest lake, the Baía de Chacorore, has a diameter of more than 15 km.

The Pantanal is above all a paradise for fish and birds and therefore for fishermen and ornithologists or bird-watchers. There live, however, many other kinds of animals in the Pantanal and you may find crocodiles and jaguars, tapirs, various species of monkeys, deers, capybaras, as well as anacondas and anteaters, and many more.

The Pousada Do Rio Mutum was constructed according to international building standards, taking into account in particular the demands of modern eco-tourism and the interests of sport fishing.
