General idea:
The Pantanal is a flooded area of over 150,000 squared kilometres, considered to be one of the most important eco systems in the world, compared only to the Okavango Delta in Botswana. The area’s main economical activity is cattle farming which has been taking place for over a century, keeping still in today’s modern life most of it’s traditional characteristics. The immense technological changes which we felt in the last 20 years are only now starting to change the Pantaneiro Cowboy’s habits. This is one of the unique locations where Cowboys are still herding cattle only on horse back, transporting herds for days on foot in the same way as their parents did.
We have drawn out a programme where we plan to offer our guest a chance to experience the taste of a cattle drive, cutting through the flooded field of the Pantanal, but with a little more comfort than the cowboy’s way of travelling.
In the heart of the farm, we have built what we consider to be a basic comfort camp. A tent cottage, netted throughout, covered with hay in a capão (island of forest), lodging up to 18 hammocks, ensure our guest cowboys to have a good night’s sleep after a tough day. The sound of the guitar and the smell of the roast being cooked on an open fire, will water the guests’ mouth, as he sits in a comfortable deck chair under the starry sky listening to the tales of old cattlemen who have crossed the flooded areas of the Pantanal for several decades.
OBS: The Caiman Ecological Refuge will be closed from 1st of December 2007 until 02nd of July 2008. In this period reservations will be accepted for Pousada Baiazinha and Cordilheira. Check with us for further information.

Day -
Pantanal - Sunday
Arrival by private shuttle or normal transfer at 14:00
Horse back riding
short ride through the fields to get a feeling for the horse which they would be riding and the style in the Pantanal. As soon as they return from the test ride, they would be briefed on what the cattle drive is all about; Where to stay, what to do if, how to do and what to take, which are all important details which must not be forgotten. They will receive their donkey packs which will follow on the cargo mules the next day and a saddle bag, which will come along with them all the way.

Day -
Pantanal - Monday
Breakfast
Cattle drive
We leave on the drive, leading approximately 500 head of nelore cattle, accompanied by 8 cowboys on their journey of 25 km. They will meet up with the heard in a few minutes and then ride all morning, until their lunch break beside a flooded water whole.
Lunch on the field
After a lunch stop, we will carry on with their heard towards camp, which should be reached by 17:30 +/-. Then, we will be able to bath in the streams before relaxing by the fire.

Day -
Pantanal - Tuesday
Breakfast
After a cheerful eve and a good nights sleep in the hammock, our cowboys will saddle up again to meet us all for lunch a few kilometres away.
Cattle drive final tour.
Barbecue lunch, with lacoo demonstration and local music at the cattle station to well come our cowboys home.
Field lunch
We get back to all the confort the Lodge offers.
Boat and Caimans
Soft boat tour on the main lake to see the Caimans being fed.
Happy hour followed by Dinner.

Day -
Pantanal - Wednesday
Walking and truck into the forest to a special place, where we can see a lot of animals.
10:30 - End of AM tours.
Drinks by the Pool
Lunch
Doze off by the pool and Siesta
15:30 PM tour
We will go out to Baiazinha to experience the clear lake tour with rich aquatic fauna.
Drinks and Ball party dinner
We will all meet up again to exchange our stories of the adventures experienced in the last few days. A dinner will be served in the open area by the pool accompanied by a band of local musicians to cheer up the dancing and feasting of the closing ball party.
