After breakfast, your guide will pick you up at the pousada/hotel for a visit to the Blue Lake Cave (Gruta do Lago Azul). The tour will start with a 5 minute walk to the cave, that has been discovered by a Terenan Indian in 1924. In its interior, after descending 100 meters, there is a lake with crystal clear water and a depth of approximately 120 meters, which makes it one of Earths biggest flooded caves. In 1992 an Brazilian expedition of speleo-divers found a series mammal fossils - as the Saber Tooth Tiger and a giant sloth - that lived in this region during the Pleistoceno Period. Endowed by nature with a unique beauty, the Blue Lake Cave impresses for its geological formation and when the sunbeams hit the lake in the morning, the water transforms into an intense blue color.
After this visit we continue to the Rio da Prata (50 km from the city) for a snorkeling tour. An interpretative walking trail through the the Da Prata ciliary rivers (about 1 hr./1.6mile) brings you to the East of Olho d'Agua River, where the snorkeling begins. During the walk you will find the rich flora and with some luck you can see wild animals as the mutum, the udu, the nail-monkey, the cutia and the queixada. Snorkeling in the most transparent fresh-water rivers in the world, rich in aquatic fauna and flora will be an exciting adventure.
Lunch will be served at the restaurant near the reception of the Farm. After lunch and a short time to relax, we continue to the nearby Buraco das Araras (Macaw’s Hole). The Buraco das Araras is a 124-meter deep doline (a cave whose roof caved in) with a circumference of 500 meters. In its interior there is a very special ecosystem made up by a forest and a lake complete with microalgae and fish. In this environment there is a fauna represented by fruit-eating bats, insect-eating bats, some species of reptiles, little rodents and birds, among them, the bright and wonderful red-and-green macaw (Ara chloroptera). Return to your pousada in Bonito at the end of the afternoon.
