You will be picked up at your hotel in Porto Alegre and depart up along the Vale dos Sinos, São Leopoldo, first German settlement in Rio Grande do Sul's state, and Novo Hamburgo, considered the Brazilian capital in shoe manufacturing. You will arrive in Canela and visit the Stone Cathedral, the Caracol park and the Castelinho - a typical construction of the beginning of the century. In Gramado you will have ample time to taste a typical regional lunch and, in the afternoon, you will visit the artcraft, homemade chocolate shops, the Negro lake, and many other attractions. Late in the afternoon, you will be returned to your hotel.
131 Km far from Porto Alegre is Gramado, Brazil's most exclusive mountain resort. At 825m you're unlikely to suffer from altitude sickness, but Gramado is high enough to be refreshingly cool in summer and positively chilly in winter. Canela, 8km east of Gramado, down a road bordered on both sides by hydrangeas, is slightly lower, smaller and less commercialized, but otherwise, it's much like its neighbour. Canela offers a particular beauty within the Parque Estadual do Caracol, where you can discover the Caracol Fall.
