In the afternoon you will depart inland to Cariri, a harsh, spectacular region where small lakes and huge boulders decorate the granite hills. Prehistoric people and extinct animals (such as mastodons and sabertoothed tigers) once inhabited this land, and left their enigmatic mark for those who know where to look.
