Departure from the hotel for the tour of beaches: Ipanema, Leblon, São Conrado and blocked until Guaratiba Bay where we are going to visit this very interesting of Brazilian popular art museum. The largest folk art museum in Brazil is located on a quiet estate in Recreio dos Bandeirantes, set between Prainha beach and the Serra do Mar coastal range. Return will also be through the beaches.
It was founded by Jacques Van de Beuque, who born in France but lived in Brazil since 1946 until his death in 2000. He worked as a designer for an enterprise that organized expositions and during his trips through Brazil he discovered and bought all this popular art objects.
Casa do Pontal was opened to the public in 1992. Its collection features around 8,000 pieces, of 200 different artists, representing the most famous popular movements that begun on XIX century in Brazil. All the pieces of the collection are in a wide variety of styles, shapes, materials and size, but all them are relative to the quotidian of the Brazilian inhabitants.
