The Chapada, in Brazil, is a mountainous massif, raising from 600 m above sea level. Situated in the state of Bahia, the Chapada Diamantina covers 70000 km2 and got its name from the abundance of diamonds and became the first diamond centre of the region in the 19th century. From this era the Chapada herited numerous villages with colonial architecture; witness of a pompous past. Today they stand out as a challenge to the invading vegetation because the nature has become the most fabulous of the treasures.
In 1985 the National Park of the Chapada Diamantina was created with the aim to preserve an unique biotype of its kind where the grandeur of the landscape and the abundance of all types of vegetation and animals mix with the marks of another time. This offered journey is aimed at lovers of big spaces and of a nature as virgin as unusual. It’s a real exploration of an unknown Brazil, a dive into the deepest of its splendour and contrasts.
