Natural Canela
The city's name originates from a tree, vulgarly called "canela" (cinnamon), which was then located not far from where the city's main square is today, Praça João Corrêa. This cinnamon tree served as point of meeting and inn for horse riders.

Welcome to a town where the quality of life is valued in its minimum detail. The people of Canela is a sum of the culture joining German and Italian immigrants with the native indian and the sierra "gaúcho" (a sort of South Brazil cowboy). The result is people who strive for progress without neglecting quality of life. On perfect natural scenarios, there's a touch of refinement by the human hand, harmonizing the present day time with the constant nature preservation.
